My 2017 Travel Highlights…

Anyone else suffering from some serious January blues….? I AM!

My first week of January so far has been pretty depressing to be honest, but I am trying to be positive and reflect on what I loved about 2017, and focus on what I want to do in 2018.

My last few months of 2017 were pretty busy and I lost motivation and time to focus on my blog. One of my resolutions this year is to get back in to theineffabletravels. I love writing and looking back on the trips I have been on, as well as sharing my tips on places I have traveled. It is something I have really missed doing. Sooo for my first post of 2018 I am going to do a round up of my highlights of 2017 to give you all some inspiration to start planning your trips for this year! 🙂

My favourite holiday destination of 2017 was…

I really could not recommend anywhere better than Bali as the perfect holiday destination! I went on a 2 week trip here in October 2017 and had the most amazing time. Full disclaimer… Bali comes with many tourist traps, and in places a very westernized culture. Usually this would put me off a destination, as with westernization usually comes tacky, cheap and nasty, however in Bali it still remains authentic (in most places) and you can still have a really cultured and real Balinese experience.

It is also by far the most instagrammable place I have ever been, there are so many beautiful restaurants, temples, sunsets, rice paddies, beaches and mountainous regions to explore, everywhere you go you will find something photographic to take a picture of. The people are also some of the most friendliest I have come across in Asia and I felt super safe everywhere I went.

I am yet to write a post on my trip here, so keep your eyes peeled as it will be live soon!

My favourite weekend away in 2017 was…

Cathederal, Palma

This city is so underrated. I was desperate for some sun in April and the cheap flights to Majorca drew me in. Palma has so much to offer for a weekend away, beaches, culture, nightlife and some amazing spanish food. Palma is Majorcas very own Barcelona and well worth a visit for either a weekend away or a day trip whilst in one of Majorcas beautiful resort towns.

My favourite place abit closer to home in 2017 was…

My first adventure to The Cotswolds was in May 2017, when I took my boyfriend on a birthday SPA break. You can read about that trip here, but most recently I re-visited The Cotswolds for a New Years Eve break and I fell in love with this area of the UK even more. As a stay-cation destination it is well worth a visit, The Cotswolds is classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty, there are so many cute towns and villages to explore and a whole lot of countryside walks to do.

Look out for a post on my NYE Cotswolds cottage experience soon!

My favourite city in 2017 was…

Last year I had the pleasure of visiting New York 4 times. March, June, September and December. All for work, however there is always time for a bit of play… Each time I visit this city I discover or experience something new. Last year I felt like I was able to step away from the tourist element of New York and really discover how the New Yorkers live…

The best discovery in New York I made this year was Smorgasburg market, which is by far THE BEST food market I have ever been too. The market is usually set up at various destinations around Brooklyn and you can get all sorts of instagrammable snacks at this weekend pop up. When it is set up at East River State Park in Williamsburg, you also get the bonus of enjoying these incredible city views…

Read about my past experiences in New York here, and I will be writing an updates post coming soon.

My 2018 travel goals…

Who knows where 2018 will take me as I haven’t actually planned anything yet, but some places on my list to visit this year are…

Greece: Unbelievably I have never visited this European hotspot, hopefully this year is my time to go.

Caribbean: I have also never been over to this side of the world, but having seen and heard so many amazing things I am really keen to pay a visit.

Lisbon: I was desperate to do a city break here last year, but never found time to go.

I hope you all have a fabulous and travel filled 2018… 🙂
